A man died Monday afternoon after his car was involved in a two-car crash in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.
The man was sitting passenger in a two-door 1999 Pontiac traveling northbound on South South Shore Drive about 2:50 p.m. when the driver lost control of the car, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. The driver was the only other passenger in the car.
The vehicle skidded into southbound traffic, hitting a four-door 2005 Volkeswagen in the 6600 block of South South Shore Avenue, Alfaro said.
Both the male driver, whose age was not immediately known, and the passenger in the Pontiac were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where the passenger later died, Alfaro said.
Nathan Loveless, 22, of the 3500 block of South Rhodes Avenue, was pronounced dead at 3:42 p.m. at Northwestern Memorial, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Additional details about the crash were not immediately known early Tuesday.
