An Oak Park man is accused of blinding a taxi driver by punching him in the eye during a road-rage incident on the Near West Side, Cook County prosecutors said Saturday.

They said Terrell S. Brown crashed into the other man’s taxi Oct. 20 in the 300 block of South Western, then offered him $100 if he’d agree not to call the police.

But when the 47-year-old cabbie tried to call the police anyway, prosecutors said, Brown punched him in the left eye, leaving the man permanently blind in that eye.

Brown, 36, was arrested Friday after the police stopped him for driving without headlights. The taxi driver had taken down the license plate of Brown’s car.

Prosecutors said Brown has seven felony convictions, including a road-rage/aggravated battery involving an off-duty police officer.
