Police officer, two others hurt in alcohol-related crash in Englewood

A Chicago police officer and two others were injured in an alcohol-related crash early Wednesday in the Englewood neighborhood, officials said.
Two 6th District police officers were conducting a traffic stop about 12:45 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Halsted when a dark-colored SUV struck two men who had gotten out of their car. An officer injured his knee when he landed on a sidewalk to avoid being hit by the SUV.
The officer was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and was released Wednesday morning, police said. The other officer was not injured.
The two other men were taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center and also were released, police said.
The crash was alcohol-related, police said.
The man who struck the squad car was in custody, police said.
