Obama OKs disaster aid for 15 Illinois counties affected by tornadoes

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Tuesday declared Illinois eligible for disaster relief, following tornadoes ripping through the state on Nov. 17.

The White House said in a statement that Obama “today declared a major disaster exists in the State of Illinois and ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, and tornadoes on November 17, 2013."
