New top federal prosecutor in Chicago gets to work

The new U.S. attorney in Chicago started work Wednesday after President Obama signed his commission and the chief federal judge in the district swore him in.
Zachary T. Fardon, said in a statement that he was “honored and excited to serve as United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois.
“I spent my formative years as a prosecutor in this office, so I feel like I am back home. This is a great office, full of smart and passionate people. I look forward to continuing the office’s strong traditions of fairness and excellence in the pursuit of justice on behalf of the nine million residents of the Northern District of Illinois,” said Fardon, who is 47.
Fardon became a federal prosecutor in 1997 and became a rising star in the Chicago office, culminating in his work on the team that prosecuted former Gov. George Ryan
