A man from Logan Square was ordered held in lieu of $250,000 bail Sunday after allegedly trying to mug someone with an ax.

Jimmie Ortiz, 30, of the 1800 block of North Kedzie, is charged with armed robbery. Court records show he pulled open a car door while wielding an ax Saturday in the 1700 block of North St. Louis and allegedly told the man inside to “give me your stuff.”

He tried to take a cellphone, records show, but the victim and other witnesses overpowered him and held him until Chicago Police arrived and arrested him at 12:15 p.m.
