A student was injured in a shooting near a Northwest Side high school Wednesday afternoon and the shooter is reportedly in custody, according to Chicago Police
The shooting happened about 2:25 p.m. in the 4700 block of North Kimball, said Chicago Police Officer Daniel O’Brien, a department spokesman. It was near Roosevelt High School at 3436 W. Wilson.
The victim, a male whose age was not immediately available, suffered a minor gunshot wound to the leg and was taken in good condition to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, O’Brien said.
Officers caught the alleged shooter minutes after the shooting, a police source said.
A statement from 33rd Ward Ald. Deborah Mell’s office said: “Thank you to the CPD for apprehending a shooter outside Roosevelt High School in Albany Park this afternoon. One student was shot in the leg; he’s in good condition.”
