Senate judiciary panel takes up Zach Fardon nomination next week

WASHINGTON–Zachary Fardon, tapped by President Barack Obama last May to be the next U.S. Attorney based in Chicago is expected to be confirmed soon: the Senate Judiciary Committee is taking up his nomination next week.
A spokesman for Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.)–the senator is on the Judiciary Committee– said Fardon is on the committee “mark up” list for next week. Fardon will not be be appearing before the panel and his nomination will be sent to the full Senate floor on a voice vote.
Fardon is a partner at Latham & Watkin and a former federal prosecutor. He will replace former U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who stepped down more than a year ago.
