A 6-year-old girl and a woman were wounded Friday night when two males started shooting at each other in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side, officials said.
The girl was shot in her chest, while the woman, 52, was shot in her leg about 7:40 p.m. in the 300 block of West 105th Street, officials said.
Television reports said the woman was the girl’s grandmother.
Both victims were taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, fire media said.
Community activist Andrew Holmes of the organization Stop Killing Our Youth, said there apparently had been an altercation between some men and shots were fired.
“Someone opened fire from just down the street, and when they discharged that weapon, they hit two innocent people” he told television reporters.
Area South detectives are investigating.
