A CTA bus driver was critically injured Wednesday night when the collided with a dump truck and two other vehicles near 103rd and Stony Island on the Far South Side, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
The No. 6 Jackson Park Express bus was turning into the 103rd Street Garage at 9:47 p.m. when a truck traveling westbound on 103rd Street struck the bus, CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis said.
Two other vehicles also were involved in the crash, Gaines said, citing preliminary information.
The bus was not in service when the crash happened, and the only people aboard were two CTA employees, including the driver, Lukidis said.
Paramedics took both of them and the dump truck driver to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious-to-critical condition, Fire Media Affairs said. Emergency crews had to cut the driver out of the wreckage.
The driver of the third vehicle was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in fair-to-serious condition, fire officials said.
