A 24-year-old woman was sexually assaulted near a CTA Blue Line station on the Northwest Side on Monday night, police said.
About 10 p.m. the woman was walking on a landscaped path from the 4500 block of West Agatite Avenue to the 4500 block of West Montrose Avenue near the CTA Blue Line entrance.
A man then grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground from behind, according to a community alert issued by Area North detectives.
He pushed her face down into an area of planted flowers and sexually assaulted her, the alert said. The man choked and punched her in the face during the course of the attack.
The woman then fled to the CTA station, where police officers assisted her, police said.
The victim was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where she was treated for minor lacerations to her face and knees, police said.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic or dark-skinned Caucasian man, 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11, and 140-160 pounds with short black hair, the alert said. He was wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt.
The attack took place about a mile-and-a-half from another sexual assault early Sunday that also remains under investigation.
During that attack, an unidentified male climbed through a window in the 4800 block of North Ridgeway Avenue and sexually assaulted a girl who was asleep in her bed between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. The suspect may be Hispanic, police said.
No one was in custody for either attack and Area North detectives are investigating.
