Starting an hour or so after the second game of the Stanley Cup final between the Blackhawks and Boston Bruins, two lanes of the outbound Dan Ryan Expressway will close on and off for several blocks to more than a mile at a stretch, between 39th and 96th Street.
Lane closings will affect inbound and outbound Ryan traffic overnight all weekend. Some will start with one-lane shutdowns and expand to two-lanes as the night wears on, then will be reversed gradually.
From one to two lanes in each direction will be closed from:
◆ One hour after the Hawks game Saturday night until noon Sunday;
◆ 9 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday.
The lane closings are to accommodate CTA crews putting equipment in place for use on the CTA’s Red Line reconstruction project, according to the Ilinois Department of Transportation.
The amount of roadway closed at a given time varies from day to day and from inbound versus outbound lanes.
