We all know how “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson obsesses about trying to keep his private life private — no small feat in our contemporary world of instant communication, social media and celebrity-stalking paparazzi.

That’s why the actor is said to be none to keen about news leaking out that he’s in the early stages of dating none other than the granddaughter of Elvis Presley himself!

Pattinson and Riley Keough have been spotted looking very cozy over the past few days at various spots in Los Angeles.

† According to one source, the actor long has “had a thing” for all things Elvis, so that was an initial topic of conversation when he met Keough, the 23-year-old daughter of Lisa Marie Presley.

† An irony: Pattinson reportedly met Keough through his former longtime love and co-star Kristen Stewart — when she and Keough co-starred in “The Runaways.”

Previously, the Presley heiress was engaged to another Brit: actor Alex Pettyfer.

IT WASN’T CROWE: According to Russell Crowe’s management team, the Oscar winner’s Twitter account was hacked early Tuesday — with the culprit sending out a photo of a naked woman’s pubic area and describing it as “a hairstyle worn by some Orthodox Jewish men.”

As soon as the Crowe crew realized what happened, the vile photo and tweet were immediately deleted. Crowe has been vacationing with his children and wife Danielle Spencer, from whom he’s separated. The real Russell then tweeted, “Hey, I don’t know what that was. Just having a chat with Dani when the phone went ballistic. Sorry, gone.”

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: To toast the 48th anniversary of John Davis founding Geja’s Café in 1965 (first on Wells Street, now on Armitage), the fondue mecca is knocking 48 percent off all food bills during the five-day anniversary celebration, which runs through Thursday.

SPORTS SHORT: New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and a number of his friends and associates are irked about criticism the NFL veteran has received for going ahead with an Italian vacation with his girlfriend after his former player Aaron Hernandez was indicted for murder.

“Bill is not Aaron’s lawyer. He’s the coach. Like everyone else, he’s upset, sad and shocked by the whole tragedy. But shouldn’t he be able to take a vacation and get on with his life?” said a friend who is very close to Belichick.

SEEN ON THE SCENE: It was a night of classic rockers Monday at Gibsons on Rush as the members of Styx took a break from their Naperville Ribfest warmups to dine at the popular steakery — as did (separately) John Rzeznik, the Goo Goo Dolls mainstay. … Former Cub mainstay Kerry Wood was spotted by fans as he dined at Tuscany on Taylor Street. … Weekend sightings at the Hubbard Inn included six-time Tony winning producer and Jam Theatricals prez Steve Traxler and (separately) popular local songbird Denise McGowan Tracy. … John Cusack was spied on the patio at John Ward and Alpana Singh’s the Boarding House. … Former “Top Chef Master” competitor and Chicago restaurateur Tony Mantuano was spotted grabbing a late lunch Tuesday at Joe’s Stone Crab. … Fans of comedian Ross Mathews, a “Tonight” and “Chelsea Lately” regular, zipped things up at Paris Club. …Ditto for Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas at Hub 51.
