Two seriously injured after CTA bus crashes into building

Updated: May 23, 2013 7:20AM

Two people were seriously injured when a CTA bus crashed into a building early Thursday in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The accident occurred in the 6400 block of South Kedzie Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The No. 54A South Kedzie bus and a van collided before the bus then crashed into the building at 4:43 a.m., police News Affairs John Mirabelli and CTA spokeswoman Tammy Chase said.

Ten passengers were aboard the bus at the time, Chase said. The bus driver was not injured.

Two people were taken in serious condition to Holy Cross Hospital, Fire Media Affairs said. But police said a total of four people were injured -- including three bus passengers and the driver of the van. Police characterized all of the injuries as non-life threatening.
