Eleven juveniles and one adult were arrested Saturday night for obstructing traffic after police responded to groups of teens running through traffic on North Michigan Avenue and elsewhere on the Gold Coast.
No one was hurt in what police Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti described as a “minor disturbance.”
“There were kids running around, being stupid, no fighting or anything, running in and out of traffic,” Officer Joshua Purkiss said.
Officers had responded to reports of 40 or more rowdy teens running around near the Water Tower, Oak Street Beach, the intersection of Dearborn Street and Delaware Place, and Clark Street and Delaware Place. The crowds moved as police arrived, and officers were telling teens gathered around State and Chicago later Saturday to get on the Red Line there and leave the area.
