Tom Thibodeau said Friday morning that Luol Deng (illness after a spinal tap), Kirk Hinrich (left calf bruise) and Derrick Rose (left knee) were all out for Game 3, but that didn’t stop the Bulls coach from again trying to sway the officials for what should be another physical game tonight.
“This is the way it is,’’ Thibodeau said. “By nature, it’s physical. The thing I find humorous is the fact people paint us to be the physical team. You look at what happened at the start of [Game 2], and that’s usually what happens.’’
Thibodeau was referring to a play in which Nate Robinson was thrown to the ground and also Dwyane Wade throwing the ball at Marco Belinelli.
“You look at the games in which we’ve won against them, the next game they come back and guys are flying all over the place,’’ Thibodeau said. “This isn’t a one-way street. This is a two-way street. We know how it’s going to be called. We can’t allow that to impact us in any way, shape or form. Just get out there and get the job done. That’s what we have to do.’’
And have to do again short-handed, with no help on the horizon. The MRI on Hinrich showed nothing new, but all he could do during the morning shootaround was pedal the bike. Both his status, and the status of Deng, is very much up in the air for the rest of the Eastern Conference seminfinals.
The Bulls did get some good news, with no suspensions for Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson for their ejections in Game 2, but Gibson was fined $25,000.
