The kid-friendly movies of summer

“Monsters University” (June 21) Billy Crystal and John Goodman are back as Sulley and Mike, a big guy and one-eyed dot who want some higher education in this Pixar kid flick.

“Despicable Me 2” (July 3) Bring on the minions! Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) has given up his bad-guy ways to raise his three daughters, until the Anti-Villain League needs him to track down an even bigger meanie.

“Turbo” (July 17) After an accident, a cute snail (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) isn’t so slow anymore, to the point where everyone knows he can win the Indy 500.

“Smurfs 2” (July 31) Smurfette (Katy Perry) is taken and her Smurf friends must go to Paris to find her. Would that make them LaSmurfs?

“Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” (Aug. 7) Logan Lerman is back is the son of Poseidon, who must wade into the Sea of Monsters to find the Golden Fleece.

“Planes” (Aug. 9) Think “Cars” with wings. Dane Cook voices the character of Dusty Crophopper, who must beat the jets in a race around the world.

“One Direction: This Is Us” (Aug. 30). Yes, it’s the end of the summer movie season. This is us. Exhausted.
