10-year-old boy shot in Austin neighborhood

A 10-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting Wednesday night in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
The boy was shot in the buttocks about 7:50 p.m. in the 900 block of North Lawler, police said.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
In an unrelated shooting, a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg at 6:41 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Carpenter and walked into University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago, police said. A source said the man was a known gang member.
Nobody was in custody in either shooting, police said.
