Blue Line back to normal after small fire

Updated: March 30, 2013 6:46PM

Regular service on the CTA’s Blue Line resumed Saturday afternoon after a fire on the tracks shut down operations for several hours between the Pulaski and UIC Halsted stations.

For hours, transit riders heading to O’Hare or downtown Chicago had to hop off and catch a shuttle before making to their final destination.

The fire happened around 11 a.m. on the Blue Line tracks in the 1800 block of West Ogden Avenue, near the Medical Center station. Officials said the train hit a tire on the tracks, sparking the small fire in the lead car of the train.
