News that Lindsay Lohan is willing to take her chances in a trial — refusing to accept a long stint in rehab as part of a plea bargain deal — upsets a close Lohan associate of the past few years.
“Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay! You never learn from your mistakes,” said the LiLo loyalist Thursday. “This is a big mistake.” Lohan reportedly believes she can prove her innocence in the case, in which she’s charged with lying to the police following a June car crash and violating her probation in a previous theft case as a result. If found guilty, Lohan could face up to 245 days in jail. The trial is scheduled to start March 18. There also are concerns that the actress may not be listening to her new attorney, According to TMZ, the prosecutors are being very firm about Lohan spending a significant amoung of time in a residential rehab facility — as an alternative to her going to jail. “That’s the sticking point,” said the source. “After her earlier unsuccessful rehab experiences, Lindsay doesn’t want to go back. … Plus she doesn’t think she needs it. “Of course, she does. She just isn’t facing reality.”

Brown was sentenced earlier this week to 55 days in jail after pleading no contest to his latest DUI arrest last October. He is to surrender to the authorities March 20, but must attend three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week until then. After his release this spring, the R&B star will be on probation for four years and must complete an 18-month alcohol education program. The singer’s October arrest for both the DUI and driving on a suspended license came only seven months after his previous DUI arrest. The actress was performing on the Holland-America line’s Eurodam ship in the Caribbean. Guests assumed she was drunk when she slurred her words singing “Skylark,” while cleaning up after her dog’s “accident” on stage. Her publicist later explained a bipolar disorder episode led to the incident. “She’s been acting even stranger lately,” said a longtime friend. “Carrie’s always offbeat. That’s just who she is. But the past few months, it seems she’s more troubled than usual.” Ford also has fond memories of his eclectic collection of summer jobs during his college years, including working on a boat in Burnham Park Harbor, in a Near North Side nightclub, and as “a manager at the first Crate & Barrel on Wells Street.” The award celebrates the human-animal bond by honoring rescued or adopted dogs and cats who have exhibited extraordinary courage by helping a person in need.
