Man slain in Austin among 2 dead, five hurt in weekend shootings

Two men were killed and at least five other people were wounded in weekend gun violence in Chicago.
Ricardo Rivera, 31, of the 4900 block of West 23rd Place in Cicero, was fatally shot in the head at 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of South Cicero, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:35 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Donald Price, 32, was shot Saturday in the same block as his West Side home, in the 4800 block of West Ferdinand in the Austin neighborhood, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. An unknown shooter walked out of a vacant lot about 5:45 p.m. Saturday and shot Price man in the face, neck, torso and right arm, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. Price was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died about half an hour later, authorities said. Police think the slaying was gang-related.
An 18-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and right arm about 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the 7000 block of South Merrill in the South Shore neighborhood. He was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, but his condition has since stabilized, police said.
A 17-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, police said. He was walking on the sidewalk when a group of males approached and shot him near 69th and State, Alfaro said.
On Saturday night, three peole were shot in two separate shooting incidents within a 40-minute period on the Far South Side.
In the Morgan Park neighborhood, an 18-year-old man was shot about 10:10 p.m. Saturday near Aberdeen Street and 111th, police said. As he walked down a sidewalk, a man emerged from a dark-color SUV and opened fire. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn for treatment of a gunshot wound in his buttocks, police said.
About 9:30 p.m. Saturday, two people were walking down the sidewalk in the first block of West 108th Place in the Roseland neighborhood, when a man approached them and opened fire, police said. A 15-year-old boy was shot in his left leg and was taken to Roseland Community Hospital.
A 20-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and knee, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn .
No arrests had been made in connection with any of the shootings Sunday, as detectives continued to investigate the attacks.
