Prosecutors have handed over a “massive” file of videotaped interviews and other evidence to the attorneys defending four young people accused of the strangulation slayings of two Joliet men.
Adam Landerman, 19, Joliet; Alisa Massaro, 18, Joliet; Bethany McKee, 18, Shorewood; and Joshua Miner, 24, Joliet, have been charged with first-degree murder in the Jan. 10 deaths of Eric Glover and Terrance Rankins, both 22.
Authorities say the four robbed and strangled Glover and Rankins in Massaro’s house at 1121 N. Hickory St.
The four are scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 5 for a preliminary hearing or arraignment. They are being held in the Will County Jail in lieu of $10 million bond.
Assistant State’s Attorney John Connor sent a letter to defense attorneys Jan. 22 asking them to provide an external hard drive large enough to hold all the digital evidence, including a massive volume of videotaped interviews.
He said the state’s attorney’s office also had received autopsy photos, crime scene photos, defendants’ photos from the police department and vehicle photos.
Authorities also have executed search warrants in the case, which were filed under seal in Will County court on Monday.
Joliet police were alerted to trouble at Massaro’s house by the Shorewood Police Department.
Before 4 p.m. on Jan. 10, Bethany McKee’s father, William McKee, had phoned police in Shorewood, according to sources. Bethany had called and told him what had happened at the house, sources said.
Joliet police arrived to find a scene Chief Mike Trafton later called, “one of the most brutal, heinous and upsetting” he’s ever witnessed.
Police say when they walked into the house they surprised Landerman, Massaro and Miner, who were playing video games. McKee had left the house and, with her toddler in the vehicle, was headed for Kankakee when police there stopped her about 90 minutes later.
According to authorities, the suspects had planned to dismember the bodies to conceal the crime.
