Those with an eye on former Ald. Sandi Jackson’s open 7th ward seat have until Monday to file applications because Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office extended the deadline for registration.
Initially paperwork was supposed to be filed either in person or online by 5 p.m. Friday. But technical glitches caused the site to crash and so the deadline was extended, the mayor’s office explained in a statement on line.
Applicants now have until 5 p.m. Monday to submit their paperwork for Jackson’s old seat, which she stepped down from on January 15.
As mayor, Emanuel has 60 days after the resignation takes effect to make an appointment to fill Jackson’s seat.
Applications can be sent to 7th Ward Aldermanic Screening Committee
City Hall - Room 406 121 N LaSalle Street Chicago, IL 60602.
Completed applications also can be sent to 7thwardcandidate@cityofchicago.org. or candidates can apply online using using the city’s web application.
