A 25-year-old woman was charged Sunday in the fatal stabbing of her mother during a domestic dispute in the South Chicago neighborhood.
Lonika Welch, of the 8300 block of South Kingston, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to Chicago Police News Affairs.
Authorities found her mother, Angela Welch, 55, had been stabbed multiple times when they responded to the Kingston home about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.
Paramedics took Angela Welch to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:26 p.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Lonika Welch was taken into police custody early Sunday, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. She was expected in bond court Monday.
Welch was expected to appear in bond court Monday.
