Rep. Mike Quigley snags Appropriations Committee seat

WASHINGTON--Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) snagged a coveted seat on the House Appropriations Committee, a Democratic leadership source confirmed on Friday. If Quigley had not been tapped, Illinois otherwise would have lost representation on the influential panel--where now former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) served before his resignation.
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is making official Friday the final round of appointments for the new Congress that started on Thursday.
Quigley had been lobbying to get the seat.
