Two seniors hurt in Kenwood fire

Two elderly people were injured — one of them critically — in a fire about 10 a.m. Sunday at 4949 S. Cottage Grove Ave. on the eighth floor of a high-rise building for senior citizens in the Kenwood neighborhood.
An 85-year-old suffered burns to 25 percent of the body and was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the Chicago Fire Department. A 67-year-old was taken in serious condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
The fire was extinguished about 10:20 a.m.
