4 hurt in Near West Side fire at CHA building for seniors

Four people were injured in an extra-alarm fire at a Chicago Housing Authority high-rise for seniors on the Near West Side Wednesday morning.
Two people were taken to the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago — one in good condition, one in serious- to critical condition, according to Chicago Fire Department Media Affairs. Two other people were reported in fair-to-serious condition.
The fire — which began in some bedding on the ninth floor at Patrick Sullivan Apartments, a CHA high-rise building at 1633 W. Madison St. — was first reported about 9:15 a.m., according to dispatch reports. That alarm was raised to a 2-11 alarm about 9:35 a.m.
The fire was extinguished about 9:50 a.m., according to dispatch reports.
