State Police: Truck, car fatally strike pedestrian on I-55

A pedestrian walking on the Stevenson Expressway was fatally struck by a semi truck and a car early Sunday in Plainfield, according to police.
A 2005 White Freightliner tractor truck was traveling north on I-55, just north of Route 30 when it struck a pedestrian walking in the right lane at 5:22 a.m., according to a release from Illinois State Police Joliet District 5.
A 1999 tan Toyota Camry traveling behind the truck also struck the pedestrian, the release said. The driver of the Camry did not see the pedestrian in the roadway.
The pedestrian died from the injuries, the release said.
Charges are pending.
