So who’s going to pay for this?
The Bulls say the new practice faciility the team is planning will be privately funded.
And Mayor Rahm Emanuel said there will be no tax-increment financing (TIF) subsidy for the Bulls practice facility or a planned retail complex, which would go on the east side of the United Center. But the mayor did not rule out an extension of a lucrative property tax break at the United Center. The mayor would only say he would “represent the taxpayers and make sure they’re not taken to the cleaners” to help a professional sports franchise. “There will no sweetheart deals and there has been no discussion,” Emanuel said.
