Getting Rahmed ...
Gov. Pat Quinn has been read the Rahm riot act.
◆To wit: Sneed is told Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Gov. Quinn had a major “dust-up” over the phone recently due to Quinn casting his lot with GOP House Republican Leader Tom Cross (R.-Oswego) in the recent pension reform battle — instead of Democratic House Speaker Mike Madigan.
◆Word is Rahm bazookaed Quinn with his infamous barrage of four-letter words — coupled with “Where were you when I needed you?!”
◆Translation: Rahm, who is furious Quinn isn’t pushing harder for a Chicago casino — was enraged when Gov. Quinn sided with Cross in the duo’s failed attempt to pass his pension reform — after rejecting House Speaker Mike Madigan’s plan to shift some of the burden to Downstate and suburban school districts.
Getting Rahmed ...
Mayor Emanuel and his wife, Amy Rule, celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary Tuesday evening at home ... and ostensibly watching the — from a Dem perspective — dreaded Republican recall victory of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on TV. What fun.
The Fitzgerald countdown ...
One ... two ... three: There’s only 22 more days left before U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald pulls the plug on his office lamp (June 30); thereby enabling a slew of pols and perpetrators to heave sighs of relief.
The Foot Patrol ...
Blimey! Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is getting scuffed by the press for — Egads! — wearing the same shoes!
◆Good grief! Kate was seen in the patent leather shoes six times on a trip to the U.S. and Canada; at the Epsom Derby; at Prince Philip’s 90th birthday; at a hospital and on the Royal Barge!
◆What’s a future queen to do? Apparently stop wearing the $288 unscuffable nude heels.
I gotta believe my good friend Federal Court Judge Harry “Hang ’em High” Leinenweber has heard everything in his illustrious career on the bench.
Well, almost everything.
◆Consider this response from mob figure Arthur Rachel, who was sentenced Thursday for plotting robberies and burglaries with buddy/former jewel thief Jerry Scalise.
◆Leinenweber to Rachel: “What possessed you to get involved with this caper after you [already] spent half your life in prison?”
◆Rachel to Leinenweber: “Nobody takes it seriously, your honor. It’s the way we are. We got nothing better to do. We sit around talking.”
◆That’s funny: Sneed had dinner a few years back with Rachel and Scalise, who spent years in an English prison for stealing the Marlborough Diamond — which has never been found. Scalise never stopped talking. Rachel was mute.
It’s a secret!
Comedian Tom Dreesen, who used to be an opening act for Frank Sinatra, entertained the U.S. Secret Service at a Gleneagles County Club golf outing in Lemont Thursday at the invite of Frank Benedetto, special agent in charge of the Chicago field office.
◆Question: Did the feds give Dreesen a no-no list about what to say since the Secret Service hooker scandal in Colombia hit the headlines?
◆Answer: “No,” said Dreesen. “What we’ve learned from the scandal is that the Secret Service has no problem keeping a secret. It’s the hookers who can’t.”
(Dreesen, who is celebrating his 43rd year in show business, hits the CDME in Frankfort Sunday with his “Evening of Laughter and Stories of Sinatra” act.)
Bill & Hill Swill ...
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s night out with her buddies two weeks ago at 437 Rush eatery — was followed up Wednesday night by a visit from her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
◆Backshot: Clinton used to play late night “Scrabble” with the eatery’s owner, Phil Stefani, when he and wife, Karen, were guests staying in the famous White House Lincoln Bedroom.
◆Food shot: This time an incredibly thin Bubba dined vegan style while table guests J.B. Pritzker, wife, M.K. Pritzker, and Hillary Clinton’s best buddy, Kevin O’Keefe, dined family style on heartier grits.
A calendar date: The Pancretan Association will hold a silent auction fund-raiser Friday at Chicago’s National Hellenic Museum to benefit five charities in Greece ... Friday’s birthdays: Kanye West, 35; Keenen Ivory Wayans, 54; Barbara Bush, 87; Nancy Sinatra, 72, and Joan Rivers, 79 ... Saturday’s birthdays: Johnny Depp, 49; Natalie Portman, 31; Michael J. Fox, 51; Jackie Mason, 76; Dick Vitale, 73, and Charles “Stormy” Bidwell, ageless.
