A man attempted to rob a bank Monday morning in the River North neighborhood.
At 9:43 a.m., the man walked into a Citibank, located in the 500 block of North Michigan Avenue and stated he had a bomb in a bag, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
A teller placed money in a bag, which he left at the scene, Kubiak said.
Another bag that the suspect claimed contained a bomb held no bomb materials, FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde said.
The suspect is described as an African American male with an average build, 6-foot-2, wearing a yellow poncho and a black surgical mask.
