CTA Red Line trains were rerouted to the elevated tracks after a train struck and killed a man at the Grand station on the Red Line, officials said.
Fire Department officials said the unidentified man was pinned under the trains at the station at 521 N. State at 5:45 p.m.
Trains were operating on the Brown Line tracks between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.
All service was restored to normal later Friday evening, although trains were bypassing the Grand station.
A CTA worker was also injured in the incident and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.
