An elderly Oak Park man was beaten to death Sunday at a nursing home, an autopsy determined.
Anibal Calderon, 80, was injured Sunday at Oak Park Health Care, 625 N. Harlem Ave. He was transported to Rush Oak Park Hospital and later to Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
He was declared dead at 1:01 a.m. Tuesday at Rush, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
A Tuesday autopsy determined Calderon died from craniocerebral injuries from blunt head trauma from an assault and the head was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Calderone is believed to have received the injury in an altercation with a fellow patient at an extended care facility.
A 66-year-old patient in the same ward is believed to be connected to the incident.
Oak Park police are investigating.
