A Curie Metro High School senior is in serious condition after a semi truck struck him outside the school Tuesday morning.
The senior was getting lunch when the semi struck him — pinning him under the vehicle, Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Marielle Sainvilus said.
The accident happened just after 11 a.m. near South Archer and West 50th St., Chicago Police spokesman John Mirabelli said. Curie, which is at 4959 S. Archer, has an open campus for juniors and seniors.
Fire Department spokesman Rich Rosado said the teen was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious to critical condition.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating, and it was unknown if any citations would be issued, police said.
The CTA rerouted the northbound No. 62 Archer bus because of the investigation.
